Trip to Udhagamandalam

 

 It was a memorable trip.

    On day 1 we started around 11.00 am and visited The Nilgiri Library the ultimate aim of the trip.  We interacted with the library in-charge and collected the information about the library.  We interacted with few of its members and visited reading area and magazine sections.  We took vedios and photographs.

Then we visited the Government Museum. There with the help of a guide, who himself belong to tribal community explained us the development of Nilgiri and also the customs and practices of the Tribes in the Nilgiri hills. 

Post lunch we visited an exclusive tribal museum.  From the displays we understood more about the tribal people of Nilgiri hills and their customs.

      On day 2 we went to Doddabetta peak first from there we enjoyed the panoramic view of the Nilgiris and ketti vally etc. We collected details about the summit  and took many photographs.

Next we went to the tea and chocolate factory. There we could get information about the processing of tea leaves till the final level of packaging.  We tasted a cup of tea which was fabulous.  Next we saw handmade chocolate displays.

Post lunch we forwarded to Botanical garden through which we reached Doda Mand, a place where a small group of Doda tribes live.  We interacted with an elderly Doda lady.  We have seen there an old temple where Doda's used to worship.

We had Camp fire on that evening. we enjoyed it.

      On day 3 we started and went to Chocolate factory and we have seen how the chocolate is processed from a fruit to confectionary. They give us a piece of chocolate to eat.

Then we moved on to Shooting spot a famous tourist spot in Nilgiris where many films were shot.

On our way back we drived through Wellington contonment and tea estates at Coonoor.
